I understand the basics of VVEL, but can someone explain to noobs like me why tuning it will produce more power? What does "tuning the VVEL" even mean?

Stock systems are tuned for emissions/economy, not for performance. I imagine the vvel maps are quite complex, taking into account a number of variables. Tuners really need to know what they're doing to get the most out of it.

Nissan VVEL, is not a standard cam, there are motors that control how the cam behaves.
Cam tuning means you can change the timing, duration, lift etc. to the VVEL program.

Similar to having a cam custom found for your particular setup.

WOW! I just got tuned yesterday too!
I'm going to have to call Rob at ZCar again -.-.

I'm making 315WHP right now with my bolt ons.
I wonder if he'll be able to get more out of it.

At this point, messing around with the VVEL system is like playing Russian Roulette. Until there has been trial (and error) about what the motor can handle, I'm out.

Below from post in My370Z.com:
Just got off the phone with my tuner. Having a few issues downloading the beta software, Rom files, etc... The man over at uprev said they will have it sorted out jn the next few days. The software was released on the 3rd. They're releasing updates daily for the new software. Everything is still in the beta phase. My tuner is leaving for California next Wednesday but hopefully we will get some results before that. Keep y'all posted.
Some confusion here. Sounds like they are still fiddling with this and don't want to open the doors just yet to all?

Sure I'm interested, but not convinced this will make the BIG change.

Moving the powerband upwards = more RPM + More structural problems. Hmmmmmm. I like the early response!
