I'm going to be tracking my 37s sedan this November in West Virginia on a roadcourse (Summit Point), and I was planning on purchasing and installing an external oil cooler at the recommendation of folks who claim the car will go into limp mode after just a couple laps. I'm now wondering if this happens regardless of ambient temp, as it is likely to be chilly round about that time.
Thoughts from those who have tracked their VHR's?
Thanks

Just do it! The first time I really saw my oil temps jump it was in December. I was pushing the car fairly hard but it was just for a short time, I was startled by how fast the oil temps went up. You can't go wrong with an external oil cooler. Make sure you install a gauge as well.
yes I have two 25 row coolers in my car. So far I have tracked it in the heat and didn't really have anything to worry about other than brakes LOL. You can't push the car hard every lap for 20 mins and not expect the brakes to get quite toasty LOL.

ash, toyz post just reminded me. Based on your comments on swapping out pads between track and daily, possibly keeping the same rotors, you should look into the Carbotech pads as well.
You can run Bobcats for daily and any of the XP's for track without having to re-surface the rotors.

Tell me more about carbotechs though. How are the street ones you mentioned with respect to dusting, noise, torque and feel? I know nothing about them!
Thanks all of you!

I am going to get the z1 setup for two reasons: full -10AN lines the whole way through, rather than stepping down to -8AN lines across adapters at the fittings (larger diameter lines = less pressure drop, theoretically), and there is an option of getting the lines with protective sleeves.
that said, when it's time to get the trans cooler, I'l probably instead get GTM's high-efficiency radiator with integrated water-cooled tranny heat exchanger because it would be more efficient.
But that's just me.
