Any oil will do just fine if you follow the 3750 change interval. If you run extended intervals, synthetic will protect the engine longer before breaking down. However dealerships (and most businesses in general) are likely to sell you whatever they have in stock or whatever has the highest profit margin, regardless of what's actually best for your car. There are as many opinions on oil as there are members on this forum. There's even a few actual facts based on laboratory testing if you check the UOA thread it the engine forum stickies. The only way to know how an oil performs is to test it. Analyses of oil used in the exact same engine will tell you what's what regardless of manufacturer or fanboy claims. Everything else is pure hearsay and conjecture.

Valvoline is good conventional oil. If you're taking it to the dealer and following the 3750 intervals, conventional is fine. Also, if you're like me and taking it to the dealer for oil changes and leasing the car, it's on them if something goes wrong anyway. My dealer only charges $45 and it includes a wash and vacuum, so it works for me.

If I was going to keep the car long term and do my own oil, I'd probably be using synthetic and probably doing 10K+ changes.

Also FWIW, NAPA generic brand oil is Valvoline and it's only $3/qt.
