Thanks guys! But the problem is on my first visit to have the problem diagnosed the car was out of warranty. My car has 20K miles on it by the way.

Can't wait for the 60K service. lol

Same problem on my '07. I already bought the shifter assembly and about to change it myself. The shifter assembly will be around $300.

Just a note, the problem will be intermittent at first but get worse over time. If you are still under warranty, you might want to bring the car in and have it documented.

Terry, please let me know how the shifter assembly change went. Did you have it diagnosed at the dealership? I guess no ECU or other reprogramming is required, am I right?

Mine is an 08 with 20k miles. I started having the problem right after the 4 year warranty ran out. Just ridiculous!

Thanks!

Any updates from people who had this repaired at dealer or DIY?

75k miles on the clock, car has been flawless to date, until this morning...sigh

SMH, this just happened to me as well. And with my luck, my warranty recently expired, 8/22/2012, and this issue popped up two days later, like seriously ?? I found the part for $294, but has anyone attempted the install, I would like to know how difficult this would be to change before I purchase.

i had this same issue 2 months ago, i purchased the extended warrnaty so i just took my car in, got myself a rental, and picked up a working car the next day. i'll look through my paperwork to see if i can find out what work they did exactly to fix it, i recall at one point i had the ECM replaced but i dont remember if that was for this...

Sorry to revive such an old thread but...

Can anyone provide info for a self install of the assembly? Checked the DIY section but didn't have any luck. I can figure out the wiring from inside of the vehicle but have no idea where/what to look for under it.

el_donks, you can find your vehicle's factory service manual here: Infiniti G35 / G37 Factory Service Manuals - NICOclub

Go to the "tm.pdf" file (Transaxle & Transmission). If you can't find this file, take a look at "fwd.pdf", the Quick Reference Index file and click on the corresponding section. You can find all the instructions in the "Control Device" section of the pdf file.

Good luck!
