another low/poor oil consumption thread
my car also has low/poor oil consumption. its always down to half after 2000 miles after oil change. questions is when is to take it to dealer for test or is this still within norm?
has anyone here with intake/exhaust/tune or even FI mods taken your car to dealer for oil test and has the dealer use this as excuse for poor consumption?

How many miles do you have? What kind of oil?
My 2011 G37 is one year old, 12k miles and I don't have an oil consumption issues. After 3800 miles, I'm down only 1/4 a quart. And I attribute this to the oil that sitting in all the nocks and crannies.

not really.
Well this also will not help. I have 15,500 miles on my 2011 purchased 5/31/11 and have never had to add oil. First oil/filter change was to Mobil 1 5-30 at 1,000 miles than changed at 5,000 -10,000 and 15,000 miles. It all comes down to how you break it in, insert can of worms here.

2010 with no issues. I use Royal Purple & K&N oil filter. Change oil every 7500 miles. However, I do have a buddy that had a 2009 350z and he had major oil burning issues. So much so that Nissan bought his car back & got him into a 2010 model. No problems with the new Z.
did you buy your car new? is it preowned? if it's preowned then you answered your own question about buying someone else's headaches. it's hard to complain when you don't know what the previous owner did. i can tell you lots of people who lease their Infiniti's don't bother to do the proper maintanence unfortunately
