need some help

This morning I cranked up my car and the engine wouldn't turn over all I could hear was the starter motor starting to crank the engine I held down the start button and I could hear The starter motor trying to catch on and crank the engine and it finally did....

Is the starter motor gone? And is it something that's covered under the powertrain or am I just going to have to fix it myself

Sounds more like a weak battery problem. Besides the starter motor might going out, like you say, also consider that the solenoid might be faulty, no need to change the whole motor. One way or another I seriously doubt this can be related under 'Powertrain".

Check your battery levels first. Our cars have had some battery troubles. There is a TSB for the battery, check it out.

BTW, make your self known desi man, I am punjabi, where are you from?

Might be the battery. There is a TSB for this issue if your car is still under warranty. What I did was I went to autozone asked to see if I can test out a battery real quick and it turned over fine. If that doesn't work then it can be your starter which would be covered under you're warranty.

I just bought a red top about 3 months back and I made my own grounding kit... I checked all the solenoids for proper voltage but I think I'll just take it off and rebuild it... Could just be cold Temps here in Toronto... Let's wait till tmrw and if I have to replace the starter I'll def make a DIY
