Hi all! Happy new year 2012!

I just got my new year's gift this morning!! I went out to start my car and I suddently heard a different sound coming from hood (like a belt that made more treble sound and a little faster) and the car would not start. Not even to be on the verge to start (you know sometimes a car would start but would then stop). Could this be my timing belt (or chain, do not know what type of timing is on this car).

I am very surprised since this car has only 41 000 KM on it yet!!

 

Pop the hood and have a look, it could be your accessory belt. Our engines fortunately have timing chains and not belts.

 

Just had a quick look at it. this car is really hermetic,i.e. everything is hidden! I see a big belt in front of the engine and it seems to be quite tight. Is there another belt elsewhere? what is a secondary belt?

 

... sorry, i meant what is an accessory belt...

If the G will not start, it's more likely to be an electrically related problem. Is it still under warranty?

 

Does it turn over, if not then it just the battery.
