Please correct me if I am wrong:
Cost and power is about the same
both Stillen and GTM are relatively easy bolt-ons but Stillen may require a little more cutting?
Stillen offers a warranty and can be installed at a nissan dealer.
GTM has a more stealthy install
not in cali so no CARB concerns

^ I guess you didnt know. GTM is in the last phase in getting CARB approval. Not all dealers are willing to do it let alone give you full warranty. You shouldn't do it if you worry about warranty so much IMO.

 

I'm NOT in Cali so I don't care about the CARB cert but if I put out $50K on a supercharged car I would like a little assurance/insurance but maybe that amount doesn't make some buyers flinch. Even if I had money to burn I would still want some type of coverage.

 

I'm not in CA either, but I do want CARB cert. That just assures me that the car is that much more carefully tuned. And the emissions check in my region relies on OBD-II so I want no issues there either.

 

Agree with both of you. one reason I went stillen was the CARB an the other was the dealer is honoring the factory drivetrain warranty so was win -win with me.

 

Unless of course someone were to drive into the dealer with an ill-running piece of crap. Despite some nice work that some aftermarket advocacy groups like SEMA have done defining the warrenty implications of aftermarket parts, in reality it all comes down to the relationship you establish with your dealer and how you present yourself and your car.

The net is full of stories of dealer warrenty denial for small and large reasons. Ford is currently particularly notorious for denying Mustang GT converage on their crappy new Getrag 6-speed for reasons as little as wear on tires. Putting a shifter on the transmission with it's weak internals and stamped shift forks ends any discussion of warrenty coverage.

So for a G, with supercharger and suspension mods (and loud exhaust), anyone would be walking a fine tightrope. I have a too-loud exhaust that I can't wait to get rid of because of what my dealer said to me (if anybody in the area wants it, let me know).

 

Rks. No offense or anything, maybe I sounded like an @ss for saying that but it is true. Everybody that went FI would love some assurance and some type of warranty from the manufacture and that doesn't always happen. Your best bet would be to go with the STILLEN kit since they do offer a 3yrs engine optional warranty program.

Where is it stated that Nissan will honor the powertrain warranty if you install the stillen S/C? I'm just curious. I thought the warranty was through Stillen and not Infiniti USA, but work could be done at the dealership

 

Nice! Glad to see they got everything squared away with the install. Now, get that baby tuned properly an post up some dyno numbers!

 

I really think it depends on the dealer I have the Stillen warrenty + my factory drivetrain warranty from infiniti. I just think you have to have a "mod friendly dealer".
