5spd vs 7spd
How can a g35/g37 sedan be more aggressive than a coupe? everything is the same except few small changes. like converting the car from a sedan to a coupe. if anything, the coupe is more aggressive than a sedan. less weight, smaller body, and more sportier.
Whether it is a 5 speed or a 7 speed, it's a win/win situation when you own a sweet G37 coupe or sedan. I'm quite happy with the 5 speed AT in my coupe and I can lose my car and licence due to the street racing bylaw in my province just as much if I owned a 7 speed AT.
The only thing I worry about is when a new transmission is introduced in a vehicle, especially with extra gears. Acura TL owners can attest to that when it went from 4 speed to 5 speed transmission and there were nothing but issues with gear 3 burning out. The point being is the 7 speed going to be as reliable? So far it looks good...fingers crossed. At least the 5 speed has been around long enough to get the bugs out if any.

I have a 5at, and the gearing between most gears are fine, here are some stats tho.

My biggest issue with my 5at is the rpm at high speeds, i really wish it had a 6th gear with lower ratios which can be better for lower rpm when doing higher speeds.
But looking at the ratios, the 7at is worth then the 5at in that the jump between 2nd and 3rd is significantly greater, this will mean a significant rev difference, which is probably why 7at hunts for gears since the computer will want to lower rpm by going into 3rd, but the rev difference is too great, and when asking for instant power to pull away from slow speed, the computer needs extra time to react to the rev difference before making an abrupt jump down to 2nd, and ask the engine to pick up the extra revs to make the downshift possible.
Care to make a wager on that claim
-jk altho we will probably find out when we meet up in the spring/summer

seriously? we just got done talking about this, if you want gas mileage the 7 is for you, if you want a faster downshift then you want the 5. theres no debate. ive driven both and talked to 370z's and its the same there. i bought my 08 because the 09 7spd was a joke to me when i compared the downshift response and thats what i wanted, gas mileage is nice but randomly flooring it in town at 40 mph and seeing the slip light come on makes me feel better

btw, i think the sedan is like 300 at most pounds lighter than the coupe, so in the quarter mile if you raced the same speed automatic coupe vs sedan it might be as much as .2 seconds faster once you drive the full quarter mile. so dont act like a hard a.s.s saying the sedan pulls harder like you can actually tell a difference. give me break
A 6mt sedan is 3709, 6mt coupe is 3708, 7at sedan is 3628, 7at coupe is 3633, IPL coupe 7at is 3769, IPL coupe 6mt is 3718 (these data are from curb weight of the specification section of Infiniti USA). So not really a significant difference.
No offense, but I really suggest you adjust your tone when making these posts. By being offensive to others does not help you in get your view point across, instead it just makes you seem ignorant. And please do the research and use solid numbers instead of "educated" guesses before making your point. it will support your arguments better.

when i see people say things that are rediculous and its in bold print like its written in stone, it makes me twitch. and i have to have some tone because ive tried to be reasonable with topics on here and it just gets overlooked, so thanks for highlighting my points again for me
and yes id like to have the time to look up my educated guesses but like i said 300 lbs at most, so i was purposely giving them the benefit of the doubt that there might be 300 lbs difference and then i went into how that much weight in the 1/4 only makes a couple tenths of a difference. i say these things like a normal person would in a conversation you would have in person. are you telling me if you talking to some people in person your going to say these exact numbers? 6mt sedan is 3709, 6mt coupe is 3708, 7at sedan is 3628, 7at coupe is 3633, IPL coupe 7at is 3769, IPL coupe 6mt is 3718. dont get me wrong i appreciate the input but when you call me out as ignorant ill have comment for you

It's fair that you have your view point, I will make a correction tho, i meant to say may instead of just, so what i really meant to say is "it may make you seem ignorant". Still I understand that you have your way of talking, but since we are on a forum, mutual respect to others is important. just my .02
