Details on 0-60 mph throttle restriction?

I've seen several references to this (usually concerning the Hypertech) but can't find any substantial info. Can anyone share some details?

In stock configuration, you cannot redline below 60mph.

Hmmm. On the 7AT it never would that I noticed. I thought it was to help with fuel economy.

I would always bounce off the limiter as it shifted in 2nd. I doubt I was doing over 60mph in first!!

The car will definitely hit redline or just before the limiter in a full-throttle run starting from a dead stop in DS-mode. I've also manually shifted and it will slam into the limiter if you're late with the shifting. From what I've read about the 0-60 throttle restriction, basically they are limiting the amount of throttle plate opening to less than 100% during a full-throttle run from 0-60, could be to preserve the drivetrain or even emissions. I don't know if this has been confirmed on our cars or other Nissans, but I remember hearing a lot of speculation that it did exist from multiple ECU tuning vendors.

Thanks for the info. Strange how there's so little concrete info and most of what I've found seems to be marketing blurbs for tuner/chip companies.

Yeah my bad. That's in DS or M mode, correct? I don't recall being able to redline in just D, but then again, I've had the HT even before I got the car... lol

D is more conservative than DS in regards to shifting, and rev hold. But it can.

The so called "0-60" throttle restriction is that the throttle plates dont open as fast as you push the pedal.

Just last week, I reverted my UpRev tine back to stock, for a dealer Nav update, and relived the horror!!
I was making a left at the light, slammed the throttle, and the car fell on its face for a second, almost allowing the oncoming car to hit me.
I then remembered why I originally bought the HT!!! I since got an UpRev.

...i'm slightly confused. doesn't the limiter hit prior to redline? therefore, not allowing redline? i went from 3rd to 2nd a while back on the freeway a week ago...not realizing i was already so high the revs. 2nd hit off the limiter before redline. end of story. i'm tuned though -- so my rev limiters set a small bit higher.

OP: aren't you talking about the throttle flaps though? or am i just not...understanding your question? without a tune -- the throttle flaps don't open to 100% during WOT runs. I believe...60-70% was the total position of the throttle body flaps.

Is this true? Max 70% throttle under 60MPH?
