Upgrades for $900

Hi guys. The other day, I got a check for $900 in the mail from a class action lawsuit

I would like to do something to my new '11 GxS coupe. I'd prefer a performance upgrade, rather than a cosmetic one. I would also like to choose one I could do myself.

What would you recommend for this type of budget? I was thinking I could install a cold air intake system?

I would go with an exhaust first! CBE to start with and add HFCs or TPs later thats the best performance mod to start with imo

R2C Maxxflow Intakes and Hotchkis Sway Bars should be close to that amount...

FWIW,

Your getting some great ideas, but put the Hotchkis sways at the top of your list. You get instant gratification after the installation, I know I did.

At the risk of sounding stupid, what is a CBE?

Also, will sway bars make a big improvement in ride quality? I think sway bar might be up my alley as far as something I can do myself. I've never really worked on a car before, so I'd like to start with something simpler.

For a good CBE, you'd need slightly more dough. I'd save up a tiny bit more and buy myself something that would actually make a noticeable performance difference: a cat-back exhaust. If you don't want to save up more, get some Stillen Gen. 3 intakes. That'll be your best bet for around the price. Coilovers, springs and such won't really make a big difference that you'd bother noticing unless you like to fly as fast as possible through every turn.

CBE is an acronym for "Cat-Back Exhaust," by the way. CAI will be for "Cold Air Intake/s."
