Smile Takeda Install Pic

Just finished my first real mod. It goes well with the new rubber I got last weekend!

As far as the install goes... fairly painless. The driver side is more difficult because of tubes, wires, and horn. I also feel the rubber couplers weren't long enough to easily secure the intake tubes, but it's doable with some finesse.

Car pulls a bit harder. It seems quite a bit throatier in the high revs too.

I was lucky to find this direct from Amazon last month for $375 shipped. I notice now they're only available from a 3rd party seller at $429.

That looks great, man. Did you consider any risks of water getting in there? I've never had a real confirmation about the Takeda CAI in terms of that. Stillen uses their little guard, so their side is obvious, but I'm still not sure about this one.

So every time you want to change or clean the filter the bumper has to come off?

I live in a desert, we literally have maybe 4 inches of rain a year. I'm not too worried about water. The stock grill also appears to deflect water downward rather than letting it straight through. Takeda sells a splash guard too, if it becomes a problem.

Basically. It's not difficult to remove though, just some clips and 6-8 bolts.

looks great man! I've been looking at the Gen3 and have ran across this intake a few times. Seems to be an easier install then the Gen3, and a very similar design besides the solo filter joined in the middle.

I wouldn't worry about "cleaning the filter", etc. Everyone always brings that up, people go 20k+ miles without cleaning and they're still just fine. That's why they're quality filters.

Great upgrade!
