UOA's all say that PU is a great motor oil for our cars. I, on the other hand, use Amsoil + Ea filters. Worth the cost? Probably not, but I do it for the ease of mind. Plus, I'm not too easy on the gas pedal, ever.

I use Mobil 1 and get perfectly fine UOA's at 5k mile intervals. I do use a good filter though (NAPA gold = Wix), wouldn't think of going cheap on that.

Due to previous experience (many years ago) I wouldn't use Pennzoil if it were free! Using Redline 5w30 and will be switching to Mobil 1 0w40. Pennzoil? No freaking way!

The days of Pennzoil sludge are long gone Bob. I use Ultra or Platinum in both of my cars. My Fit goes almost 11k between oil changes (changed at 20% according to the maintenance minder). No issues whatsoever.

I dare you to find a better wear metal UOA at 5000 miles on a G37 than this UOA on Pennzoil Platinum.

I'm sure your experience was with their conventional motor oil which isn't very good, but their latest and greatest full synthetic products are hard to beat. Their oil analysis results are impressive.

Raising a thread from the dead . . .

I would like to see what the SUS Viscosity index is on Pennzoil Ultra that has done 5,000 miles in a hard driven G37. I have had five UOAs at 5,000 miles each using Mobil 1 EP on my G and in every one the SUS Viscosity was below what it should be.

I have some posted for PU and it was just fine. Please don't ask me to find them, they're posted in a UOA thread, can't remember exactly where.

I use M1 in all of my cars, never had any issues. You can disable the maintenance reminder completely.

To be honest, any brand synthetic oil will run fine on your car if you decide to change at 7500 miles at each interval.

What oil will my Infiniti dealer service use? They are saying I need to change the oil every 3750 miles which seems crazy. I used to go 7-8000 miles with my Volvo.

I'm preparing to make the switch to synthetic for our G, and after reading probably hundreds of pages on UOAs at both BITOG and the370z.com, I've decided to use PU. (there is an epic multi-page oil thread somewhere on the370z.com that is a great read for our engine)
But I agree that pretty much any quality synthetic will give acceptable results. I may also one day mix PU with Edge titanium for our G. I mix synthetics in our MB, and get great results.

When I was choosing a synth to use on my G the only real "requirement" I was looking for was some ester in the additive pack (to technically fulfill Nissans requirement [for previous model years] of ester oil)

Valvoline full synth, Pennzoil Platinum and Ultra, etc. all have something in it to fulfill the requirement (per the manufacturer). It sounds like Napa full synth oil is relablled Valvoline full synth so thats another option.

I stuck with PU because of the UOAs posted all over the net.

What happened to PU? Several Walmart stores didn't carry it anymore. Only found it in Amazon.
I always use PU since I switched to full synth oil.
