Oil - Thinking of switching - Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Ultra

Two questions

1) My Engine Oil/Filter maintenance reminders are constantly popping up every time I start my car (Im at 3750 since last change). I want to take the car to 5000 miles since I have switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic. I reset the maintenance minder for the Oil/Filter under Information->Maintenance and set reminder to OFF. However notification still pops on the steering column display. How can I turn off

2) For those that switched between Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Ultra, do you notice ANY difference in engine smoothness, cold starts, performance (all subjective) and also oil analysis (objective)

Thanks
M

1. There are 2 reminders: one is on the NAV screen which I think you reset it. The other one is on your dash board. You'll have to use the 2 buttons on the steering column display to turn it off (or reset it).

2. I just picked PU based on the UOAs the guys posted here and am done with it. I think you'll be fine with either as long as you change it at 5K or so.

Search the UOAs here and at BITOG. For 5K miles, Ultra does fine. So does Pennz Platinum & Eneos. Purolator PureOne is an excellent oil filter.

Changed to PU bout a month ago from factory fill and car runs quieter and smoother IMO, but then again it might just be in my head.

I'm using PU and the PureOne filter on the G and PP/PureOne on the wife's Civic. Big fan of these oils and inside the valve cover looks brand new, no varnishing. The VQ37 is quiet on startup with no valvetrain noise.

Been using PU and PureOne filter from first oil change so i can't really document a difference. Highly recommend both for your use though.

Just switched to Mobil 1 @ around 7500 miles. Could be all in my head but it feels a lot smoother IMO. Gonna stick with M1.

I used PU and Pure1. I have Edge and K&N filter for my next change. Both oils seem to do well in the HR.

I switched to Royal Purple and a wix filter at 3k miles. RP is frickin' pricey, since M1 is like 24 bucks for 5 qts at Wal-Mart.

Next change it'll be M1 and I'll stick with that for 5k changes.

I went from Mobil1 to PU, but I wasn't really paying attention to the feel of the engine between the two. I use a Wix filter.

I do know my UOAs were MUCH better on PU than Mobil1. I will be sticking to PU for as long as I won the car. Later this year when my car is out of warranty I will slowly go longer with my change interval too. Get UOAs done and see how far I can take the oil.
