Shifting Without Using the Clutch
Shifting Without Using the Clutch
Didn't know it was possible until I learned how to do it and actually tried it on my G. From 2nd to 3rd seems a bit trickier but 3rd to 4th is pretty smooth if you get the RPM right. Basically, all you have to do is:
1. On the 2nd gear, accelerate and rev up to about 3100 rpm
2. Foot off the gas pedal, gently push it to neutral. Stop trying if you can't nudge it to nuetral, you've probably passed the point and forcing it won't be good.
3. Continue to push it to 3rd, again, doing it gently and never force it.
The whole shifting should be done before the RPM goes below 2600.
Like I said, from 3rd to 4th is a lot easier and natural. However, I don't think I will be doing this often because the accelaration will be slower and the car feels like it's got a bad auto gearbox or something.
I'm just glad that I actually could do it.

it's cool cuz I didn't ask how to do it, or for you to explain. I've done it in plenty of Honda's at the track! thanks a lot tho

If you have done it in "plenty of Hondas at the track" your either lying, lying, or just retarded. For one, it's impossible to actually go through all the gears in this manner, and for two, it's a coast, wait, and feel process that is the SLOWEST way to possibly shift.
I think what you are maybe confused on, is "Power Shifting" which IS for performance, the fastest way to shift, and for racing. Full throttle, one fluid movement of the clutch and arm slamming the shifter as hard and as fast as possible. Another term/technique is "side stepping" the clutch. Same process, but rather then bending your knee and bringing your foot up off the clutch, you are depressing it, shifting, and sliding your foot off to the side to allow the spring of the clutch to release it and slam the pedal back up.
PLEASE send pictures of the transmission pieces all over the ground if you have shifted without a clutch in a track setting.
