LSD on a G37x

Been looking into a LSD, since its apparently the best N.A mod you can do (screw off weiboy! i know i should be saving for FI!!! ). Would it be possible to instal a LSD on a g37x? i mean since the X works basically as a RWD car under 90% of driving conditions. Would it mess with the AWD system in any way?

Why get an LSD on AWD car though? The moment your car detects slip the front wheels will engage to correct it, I don't think you'd even get the point of limited slip

From: Framingham Ma,
Yea Steve we DO NOT need it, LSD just moves power from one rear wheel to the other ( Posi Traction) We had AWD when out car detects slip the fronts take some power and start to pull.. LSD is strickly for RWD.. Save $$$$ man,,

You can do a RWD conversion though and enjoy rocking an LSD

AWD will move power back and forth when it detects slip. A LSD can prevent that slip.

If LSDs on AWD are pointless and/or are for RWD, please explain to me why the STI has not one but THREE of them. Why do Lambos and, Porsche turbos, EVOs and GT-Rs all have LSDs?

/thread.

You're such a show off lol

I was answering to the OP's request, he wanted to throw one LSD on an AWD, that's why I advised against it.

If he got a front middle and rear and had them geniously programmed like the Quattro system then I'd be all for it

But the Quattro is 100% mechanical! No programming involved ala GT-R/EVO.

Minus the DCCD, the STi is all mechanical too...

The G37X's AWD is reactive, while a mechanical LSD is proactive. Pick your poison.

I doubt the OP really needs a LSD, but the only thing it can hurt is his wallet.

i dont NEED one, but ive heard it described as the best N/A mod you can get. Im curious if 2 of them would even be a viable option? We may as well discuss all possibilities, since im sure more people than just me have wondered about this

No, its not; the car was never designed to have a front or center LSD. Unless you have a ridiculous budget.

A rear LSD wouldn't hurt, but are you cornering hard enough to cause the car to push power up to the front and/or have VSA kick in to stop wheelspin? If not, you're wasting your money.

on occasion :P. Ive just heard that its the best "power adder" mod since its gets more of your power to the ground. Am i confusing this with 4.08 gears? if so what if everyones (especially mike's) opinion on 4.08 gears on the 7AT.

it just alters your torque band. Are you a 5AT or 7AT? Unless you're drag racing, I wouldn't do it.

I think you're confusing an LSD with a diff ring & pinion swap (the one that alters the diff gear)

If you're looking for a 4.08:1 swap that will improve torque and acceleration, that's a gear swap on your diff
