Carrier installation?

I got tired of being a one wheel wonder and bought a VLSD from a junkyard. Are there any tricks to installing it, or just lots of beer and time? Anything I should watch out for?

how about fluid preferences? I have some Amsoil 75w-90, but probably not enough. Factory or redline?

Would it be okay to powder coat? Looks like it sat around awhile, means I need to put it at 500f for thirty minutes.

Not the base model, and I have the tire spin to prove it . It looks like a simple swap after I drop the exhaust and sway bar, but want to see if anyone else had gone here.

I would skip the PC uless you want to replace all the seals.... just clean her up and paint with POR15 or similar product. Should be a straight up easy swap with the flange style mounts of the axles and the drive shaft....

In case someone is ever searching, I thought I'd reply with my own answers

VSLD is a direct swap, but you need the stub shafts that match the VSLD rear.

You can just unbolt the carrier and drop it out, but due to the bolt coming out the back it's easier if you can remove the heat shields around the driveshaft, and get more room to move the carrier forward.
