Paddle Shifter Kit Installed

Just installed this on my 09 non-Sport G37X. Wouldn't and couldn't have done it without all the information I read here and the installation link on the G35 site.

Believe me whan I say I am no mechanic but this was a really worthwhile mod in my opinion. I couldn't deal with the narrow high bolstered sport seats on the S and needed AWD but still really wanted the paddles.

I followed the step by step instructions with provided pictures which included removing the air bag and steering wheel. It took me a couple hours but I was being extra careful. The only thing not explained very well is removing the lower trim brace cover to get to the lower trim piece screw location. Just grab one side and "shift" one towards you and the other away from you and they come right off.

Shifting operation seems intuitive. Leave in Drive and paddles shift but then returns to auto drive mode after about 5 seconds of not touching the paddles again. Put in DS and it drives much like a manual using the paddles.

Ordered the kit from Riverside via EBay for $245. My dealer in Ohio wanted around $400 for parts and "Around $100" which translated to up to $200+ in labor to me based on past experience. I could tell they really didn't want to touch it. The "W" word was mentioned numerous times.

Thanks to all again for the valuable information. This mod increased the fun factor for me driving what I believe is a great car already.

Glad you got it done, I did the same a few months ago. However, you didn't need to remove the air bag or the steering wheel. There are updated instructions out there... anyway, not to ruin your experience! You got it done, that's all that matters.

Honestly you don't need a DIY. All you have to do is take off the screws from the steering column and pull them off. The bottom part requires a little force but if you are careful you can pull it off without a scratch. I buy me the paddles too 5 days after I bought my car and been using them everyday. It adds extra fun to the car

For those that have installed them or had them top begin with: Do you fund that they interfere with regular driving, when turning or just cruising with your hands on the center of the steering column. I have never driven a car with Paddles.....curious? Which Paddle upshifts; which Paddle Downshifts?

Right paddle to up shift and left to down shift and won't interfere with turning.

squal17: Riverside ?? Is that a particular Infiniti Dealer with a good deal on accessories? I'm interested in the Illuminated kickplates, maybe these paddle shifters, and the Interior Ambient lighting package. Let me know. THX

Correct you do NOT need the torque wrench as described in that post, and you do not need to remove the steering wheel or the air bags.

There are a couple of screws to remove on the steering wheel and everything comes off. The trick is to rotate the wheel to gain access to the screws on each side.

I did mine and did not remove the wheel or bag. I studied it all for awhile but the actual process took less than 30 min.

Here are the pictures I took during my installation.

By the way my paddles are not wrapped in black leather since I bought a used set from another member that was returning his lease. The color is not noticeable and it does the job. Picked them up for $130.
