Sounds like a bad TOB. Does the sound changes when you press the clutch pedal in?

Clutch chatter happens if you do not break in your clutch properly, or it is just the throw out bearing.

Hmmm, could be even more serious than a TOB. When the TOB is bad they make noise when you press down the clutch pedal, not the other way around. Go to the dealer and complain again, a transmission that makes noise when it's spinning is NOT normal. I'm now thinking input shaft bearing considering I have seen this on other cars/trucks before but you say you have a new transmission. Whatever the case may be I would bring it back to the dealer ASAP.

*edit*
Found this thread doing a quick search. It is most likely a bad input shaft bearing. Are you certain that the dealer installed a new transmission?

Interesting. I was there when they installed it. I k ow normally these trans have a cement mixer sound to them but this plus rattle is just awful.

If they have replaced it before make them replcae it again. Tell them its not acceptable and needs to be fixed. With that kind of attitude im sure they will take care of you. Given this being the 2nd time you had this problem and the first time they replaced it so obviously they know its not normal and the problem should be fixed. just my 2 cents.

This. Just because they installed a new transmission doesn't mean that their work is done. You're still an unsatisfied customer and rightfully so. How's the lemon law on your state?

I know that I may risk negative experience points on this, but I can't resist... Where I lived for quite a long time recently (Thailand) having tranny issues was a completely different problem.

To get back on topic, I hope that you can resolve this and report back to us so that we can learn.

Thanks!

I knew quite a few of them, but luckily never had any "encounters" with one...there was one time that my boss mentioned that he knew this great strip bar. We walked in and noted how friendly they were. Trust me when I say that we had no transmission issues while exiting bar in 6th gear.
