i went through that for the first 200 miles... after that it was easier to readjust how far down to step on the pedal but i really don't mind the reflash not to shift from 7th gear back down to 5th or 6th when I am on the highway.

it is smoother in NYC traffic though I must say -- a lot less jerkiness

da mayor: So are concurring with the other quoted member that with the Reflash the car drives "heavier" on the highway and better in traffic situations (less jerkiness). I may second guess the application of this reflash.

At now 8K miles on the clock, I do feel the car is better than at first. I do feel that "jerkiness" gear hunting feeling in traffic situations, typically that stop n go 40-20 mph, and the lagging is better than it was. Biggest problem that I still experience: travelling at city street speeds, hit the brakes, then hit the throttle, there is a big Lag or hesitation. I hate That !! Does this Reflash Eliminate that?

I am also curious to know. I experience the same thing. My friend's 07/08 G35 5AT has none of that.

hadokenuh: My 07 G35X had none of this either. The 5speed AT was much better with much better Throttle response. The 7 AT was created for mpg increases.

Please for those that have had the TSB IT10-075 applied, What is the Verdict? Better, The same or worse as far as the conditions of lagging/ hesitation, and jerkiness experienced in low speed driving.... Much apreciate the responses. If you reflas the ECU or TCM as it may be called: There's No Going Back!!

As an aside about these 7 speed trannys - an associate of mine has a 2010 Lincoln MKs - he feels similar reactions too: some jerkiness, gear hunting, typically at lower speeds - local driiving.

The gear hunting in traffic after the flash is still there. Not as bad as before but still there. I almost got in two accidents in the past three months because of the lag in stop and go traffic.
The first was when I first bought the car new and was going through traffic where my car had hard time finding gears as I stepped on it because another car was coming fast at me and by car slowly taking its time deciding which gear to get into.
another incident was when I was besides a semi-truck and the truck wasmaking a lane change where I was in his blind spot. The truck signals in my lane so I try to step on the gas to get out but the damn car once again that is after the new flash, took its stupid time hunting gears to a point I had to honk to let the truck driver know I was on his blind side.

I love my car but I loved my transmission on my 04 accord 4cyl and 06 550i much better than this car.

When did you haven this Reflash done. It only came out December 22 or so, according to this thread. You are sure it was TSB IT10-075? I ask because you say that "in the past three months".... Are we talking about a 2010 G ? There were othe TSBs for this issue for 2009s.

Correct. The dealer told me IT10-075 was released less than 2 weeks ago.

I don't want to jump into conclusion right now, but so far so good.

i got the very current update.
i went to the dealer last week 12/20/10 and complained about the lag and my service manager said that there's a new update that he's going to apply it to my car.

the first incident was when i first had the car with no updates and the second was after the newest update on the 21th

My dealer first got the update on 12/23/10. Unless you're dealer got it before mine did, you don't have the current update. Remember that there are TWO updates, one from 09 (I believe) and the current one from December 2010.

Check your invoice to make sure it is IT10-075. My invoice showed IT10-075.

I took the car out yesterday and tested the transmission to see if the lag had gone away. (I didn't do the service update) It actually did, I just never noticed it. In the first 1-2k KM on the car there was definitely some acceleration lag and jerkiness but i guess over time it went away. It's very responsive now even when I accelerate, let go and then press down again.

i have not gotten the new flash but the same thing happened to me with the the downshift lagging awhile back. i was on the highway and ended up cutting somebody off because i floored it and the trans couldnt decide what to do. i have since learned to move it to ds and that lag significantly improves. also i figured out there is no need to floor the gas pedal. if i give the pedal a quick punch 1/3 of the way down the car accelerates like i gave it full throttle and it switches gears immediately too in ds mode. the drive by wire throttle is not linear so that almost all of the throttle input is within the pedal being 1/3 of the way down. if i floor it i dont feel any difference. im not sure but i think the throttle is adaptive to your driving style also so it may be different on yours. it also seems from what you stated in your post that the tsb reflash may have changed the throttle so its more linear.

I'm not sure what people mean when they say the transmission is "hunting". The tranny is not trying to make a decision, it's simply trying to downshift and it takes it forever. Slow downshift is the problem, not "gear hunting" (whatever that means).

The car definitely doesn't respond too quickly to flooring the pedal down on certain speeds. I find that at higher speeds on the highway it has more of a "whip" effect to it. I don't know how other cars respond to flooring it at 70mph+? Is it a similar effect or does it accelerate more linearly?
