I did reset my ecu when I installed the intakes... I'll do it again and see what happens. But if it was the throttle position angle sensor, it would happen on a regular basis not on occasion, no?

My rpm surge was intermittent. The high idle persisted, but the rm surging happened sometimes. There was no direct pattern but when it did occur the engine was at full operating temp.

I am having similar pattern but mine is when the car is idling, the RPM was moving below 1k and slightly 1k itself without stepping on the gas.. I will try to reset the ECU as everything I have so far is stock besides the K&N filters..weird..
