I had no idea that the Japanese Skyline has the finned cover. If that's the case, they will probably be more expensive not to mention expensive shipping from Asia. I'm 99.9% sure there's no difference though. Enough so that I should just go ahead and get it. I'll find out when I have it. If it's wrong I can just eat the restocking fee.

Anyone know if there is a difference of installation between manuals and autos when it comes to the differentials?

The service and maintenance guide book says to change diff oil every 30K in the premium maintenance schedule. Standard maintenance schedule says just to inspect it every 60K and replace it if towing, or driving on rough or muddy roads.

If you are seriously interested in doing this then download the Factory Service Manual and read it. It's all in there. Since you seem to be search impaired, I'll even spoon feed it to you.

I have a question about the drone on the 5AT if one were to install this mod. How much louder would it be?

Sorry I missed this thread.

From what I researched, there is some difference between the rear housings of the manuals and autos. I don't know what is different but it seems that the gears are specfic for the manual housing.

And the cruise control issue has to do with the logic. For automatics, the cruise control logic looks at both the transmission output speed and wheel speed. If they are inconsistent with one another the CC will not work. For the manuals, the cruise control logic does not look at the transmission output speed.

Not sure if the Japanese Skyline does but I know that the middle eastern version of the G37 does. But either way you are right the shipping would be a lot.

Just spoke with Z1 they are telling me that if I want to use the 4.08 final drive for the auto I need to change the differential itself. They are offering a nismo differential for 1150. I am just trying to think if it is worth it or not. I have no more performance mods left to do on my car other than get a tune and thats a whole other story.

Total cost is going to run around 2k+ to change everything. That is including installation. The problem is the car is a lease...

If your intention isn't to buy the car when the lease is up, then don't do it. It's going to be a pain and costly to revert back to stock.

The GCC spec G/Z's come with finned diff housings. You guys have differential housings with flat bottoms. These are different from the diff cover posted earlier, so technically there are two finned pieces that you can get.

"Nismo differential for $1150", is that for a differential or for the whole housing? Sometimes people use "differential" when describing the whole rear end, when the "differential" is actually one of many parts inside the housing.
