My Hypertech tune did a good job of keeping those lifters up. Much of my 'lag' was gone. So I say yes imo that a tune can basically accomplish the same thing.

Maybe it is just me, but I did not feel any throttle 'lag'. My WRX is has a throttle cable, and my G mimics that very good. If you stab the throttle quickly on the G, it will react accordingly. The 3 BMW 328 I drove before buying the G was a different story. The throttle responds on the BMW would oscillates for a moment before the car took off.
I think this 'mod' is the electronic version of attaching a piece of wood to the gas pedal.

The VVEL does not use the intake valves as the throttle. This has been discussed multiple times on here and over at the370z. Nissan marketing got it wrong when they introduced the VVEL. Look at modme's data logs posted on here and/or talk to a few of the tuners (sharif or sam). The throttle blades do in fact move open and close just like every other car does during normal driving.

Saying the throttle bodies stay full open and the VVEL controls the throttling is dead wrong and is "misinformation".

Exactly, I mean think about it, throttle bodies obstructs flow, if it were to remain always open, then what's the point of having one to start with?

Exactly the point I was trying to make in a round about manner in my previous post . It doesn't make sense for a company to manufacture a part if it serves no purpose.

I remember reading in Motortrend or one of the other mags that the throttle bodies were there only for "emissions" purposes, whatever that means.

Throttle boddies via Throttle valve control air, injectors control fuel, ECU controls both.

You won't regret it. Install is kinds a pita due to the space behind the pedal being so tight.

C'mon... just pop the pedal off. (2) screws hold it to the floor, which are under a easily removed plastic cover. Unscrew those and you'll have easy access to the harness.

Questions:
1. Can you turn it on and off, or is it always on?
2. How is this different that the Blitz Throttle Controller?
3. Would throttle response be improved even more when combined with Hypertech 0-60 Throttle Restriction?

I have a 5AT...I installed mine tonight...Just took a drive to Diamond Plaza....tested it out in the side streets....love it...glad NBStock recommended it....It ups the fun factor in driving...Cant hurt at the track or strip either....almost completely killed the lag...car feels more responsive...you wont know the feeling till you put it in your car.
