Does the R35 GTR Turbo Manifold fit on a VQ37?
Technically speaking, the VQ37 and VR38 share the same block, the VR38 being a closed deck. So I'm thinking, The R35 Turbo Manifold should sit nicely on our engines right? Or am I talking out of my azz?
Reason I ask is, I know someone close by selling his GTR turbo manifold and turbo's for a good price.. and the mod bug is biting real bad.. thoughts? Will the steering column get in the way?
Edit: Here's what's being sold:

Sam are you talking about the intake or exhaust manifold? Would you be getting the turbo's as well? If it's exhaust, turbo and non-turbo exhaust manifolds have very different designs and it wouldn't just bolt on.
Furthermore I don't see any reason to believe that the VR's manifold would be any better than the VQs. They are each optimized for different applications. It would probably just cause you a ton of problems.
Now how about a total VR38 transplant?

By Turbo Manifold I meant the ones that go between the exhaust valves and the turbo. Our factory manifolds aren't designed for boost nor high EGT's. My friend is selling both the manifolds AND the turbo's.
A VR38 transplant isn't very smart IMO, since we already share the same block. If I were to do a full engine swap engines I can think of better options.
I just want to be sure that they would fit, as the seller is a few hundred miles away. I don't want to end up with a pair of turbo's and manifolds to hang on my wall lol

How much is he selling them for?
Looking at the manifold, seems like the VR38 head has the same pattern for the bolts, with the swapped bolt position for piston #6.
The heads themselves are not identical but close. Here's a comparison (The VR38 head is obviously upside down)
VR38DETT head
VQ37VHR VVEL head
Even if the manifolds physically fit to the head, you're also gonna need to make sure everything clears the body, chassis, steering, etc.
The downpipes will obviously be custom made.
You can buy GTM's intercooler
GTM Motorsports FORCED INDUCTION GTM Bar and Plate Core Intercooler For HR
and piping
GTM Motorsports FORCED INDUCTION GTM Intercooler Piping Kit
use what you can fit and modify the rest.
You're also gonna need fuel system upgrades, intakes, BOV's, oil and water lines, etc.
If the turbos fit the engine bay and they're cheap, i'd say go for it. It's a nice project to keep you busy

I got pix of the gaskets to compare and put them side by side:
If I'm going custom then I'm sticking to custom, don't want to ship huge azz pipes and intercoolers, just need to confirm fitment

there are two totalled R35's here with clean engines. they're expensive though. I wanted to buy the seats (for cheap!) and refinish them to match my interior. they were sexy!

I'm quite interested in the whole gtr thing, I really like to know what can I salvage from the vr38 to the vq how about the intake manifold ? Do they fit ? Really like the crossed over intake piping than a black plastic with rigid weird lines imo

There is a post on the 370z board about a person making adapters to fit the GTR turbos onto the VQ37VHR. It is very recent, so he hasn't kitted everything yet. Intake manifold does not fit without having a conversion, which is expensive. Believe the turbo guy is also using GTR intercooler too.
