my dealer is telling me that the car *should* be ready next friday. honestly, though, I'm not holding my breath.

funny story, the day my engine blew, a customer service rep for infiniti inner circle just happened to call me. the call was was a follow-up, random call unrelated to the earlier tow I had gotten by using inner circle roadside assistance. I was pissed already, and I gave the guy an absolute earful. I'm sure he was caught totally off guard because most infiniti customers at 3k have nothing but great things to say! I regret it just a little bit.

anyway, I will keep everyone posted when I know more

cheers

Screw the Infiniti rep. he gets paid $8.00 an hour to listen to whatever you have to say...you need a brand new engine for a 40k car with not even 5k miles on it....... sorry for my rant

Don't know too much about cars so I'm not sure about what part was he talking about but he said that it's gonna cost Infiniti really a lot of money..
I mentioned to my service advisor today that I had heard rumors about a potential major issue with the VQ37VHR engines and he said that there have been some oil consumption issues (like the VQ35DE Rev-Up engines in the 05-07 coupes and 05-06 6MT sedans) although he personally hasn't seen any.

Why was your car towed earlier?

my car was towed due to the engine blowing...

well I got my car back about two weeks ago. since then I've put about 750 miles on it. The new engine seems fine, it runs well, although it is idling lower than my other engine. Idles about 6-700 rpms now, the other I know was higher. Hope that's nothing.

Anyway, now that I have my x back, I'm loving the gemini catback. I'm also lowered on eibachs and it looks hot. I guess we'll never know what caused my engine to fail. Service advisor tells me he thinks a bearing might have failed, but no one knows for sure... except the suits at infiniti HQ and they're not saying a damn thing!

Thanks all for your replies, but where's the pacific NW G community??? I'd love to see some of your rides in person!

Glad everything worked out okay.
The way I read your post, I thought you had the car towed in for something else before you had the problem with the engine seizing up.

650-700RPMs is the normal idle for these cars. You should only see higher if your air conditioning is on.

It's kind of thin up here - I see a couple modded G's & z's around but not that much. I just went down to GTM and saw more driving around southern Cali then I have in two years up here. Here is a link to mine - I live around Kirkland and am driving in that area all the time...
