When you move the shift lever to the left to go into DS mode are you then moving it up or down to access 1st, 2nd & 3rd?

Yes, but actually it doesn't even read DS mode anymore, if I move the shifter and hold my padle shifter for about 5 sec on - Possition it fianlly goes but if I am only cruising in any of the gears it automatically goes back to drive. What could be the issue? Low on oil?

So you are driving and switch it over to manual mode. The readout in your speedo cluster initially shows "DS" mode? But let's say you are driving along in 4th gear, the car automatically switches from reading "4th" to DS?

Nope it only reads "D" the DS mode is gone, only one that works is in Manual mode and only if I hold the paddle down for about 5 seconds or so, but if I let off the gas to slow down it will kick itself into just "D" in any gear i'm on... What is the proper way of engaging manual mode? If any...

sorry if this is a dumb question, but are you moving the gear shift over to the left? keep in mind you can still use your paddle shifters without manually moving it over to DS mode. the car will hold the current gear or shift up or down and automatically switch to D mode after awhile if you don't engage the paddle shifters. if you want the full time manual shift mode, you need to switch the gear shift over to the left.

I thought I saw another big thread about this exact issue that a few people had. I think I remember it being a switch/sensor for the shifter and it was replaced by dealers?

Yes, I am switching it over to the left, and that is exactly what I'm thinking. It feels like an actuator switch. I just went for a drive in it, and the DS mode light came on until I turned the car off, and no more DS again

Had the same issue, warranty took care of it

Basically, the sensor under your shifter stops reading that you actually moved to DS and assumes you're still in D, that pissed me off big time lol

O.k. So I decided to just unplug my battery for a while cause it kind of off and on worked and it fixed the problem was out on a couple runs and it's just fine, but now my windows are doing something strange. When I open the door they roll like 80% down and I don't have the auto roll up option now :/ should have just waited til tomorrow..
