Stuck Clutch Pedal

So lately I've been experiencing issues with my clutch in the mornings when I first start my car. Since the weather has gotten warmer, my clutch began to act up. In the mornings on my way to work, when I depress my clutch to start my car...the pedal sticks about 1/2 way down and doesn't come back up unless I pop it back with my toes. Also, when driving the car in the morning...the clutch point feels way off and sometimes even grinds going into 2nd gear. Once I drive the car for about 15 mins. and excessively pump the pedal, the issue goes away and the car is normal again.

Has anyone experienced similar issues and know what's wrong? I made an appointment at my dealer who claims that this might be an issue with air in my lines...but I'm not sure and wanted the communities feedback.

Thanks!

If it's air in your lines, yo can fix that yourself with a bottle of brake fluid and a 10 mm wrench, takes about 15 minutes. It could also be your slave cylinder going out or perhaps other worse issues. Do you ride the clutch a lot? Have you ever smelled the clutch friction surface burning (very distinctive smell)?

No, I have never smelled the clutch burning before. I'm very easy on my car and my clutch. Wouldn't this issue be covered under warranty anyways? I hardly have the time anymore to work on my own car but I am mechanically inclined. I just rather have the dealer perform the work under warranty to save time.

Did you do any of the three "clutch pedal" mods mentioned on the forum? Just wondering because it seems that there's a trend that I've noticed lately....if people change the clutch engagement point, the slave cylinder is more likely to fail as a result? Hmmm....I wonder....

BTW, if you did mod your clutch, you should definitely return everything to normal before going back for warranty work.

No, I wasn't even aware there are clutch "mods". Everything with my clutch/tranny is stock...

If the slave cylinder us shot without evidence of modification to the syestem ir abuse, it should be covered by warranty.

Wow, that would be very unusual....pressure plate springs (they are actually a series of little "fingers") usually outlast the friction material of the clutch disk itself. I've never actually seen them fail. I've replaced many clutches and reused the same pressure plate.

I'm arguing with the service manager now and calling the BS flag on this "pressure plate" issue. 2 things are either wrong, 1 being Slave Cylinder or 2 being the throw out bearing!

I've complained about a "spoungy" clutch pedal since 17,18,19k miles and now my car has 40k and the pedal is finally sticking.

I'm waiting on a call back, I know it's got to be my slave cylinder!
