newbie question

Hello everyone.. I have been lurking around and searching for info now for about a week. I am the new owner of a 2008 G37 Coupe. So far I have put Eibachs in it, put 20 inch staggered KMC Novas on it and tinted the windows. Now its time for mods.. I have about 2gs to spend and would like to know where to put it. I have heard that berks high flow cats with the stock exhaust are good. To be honest I really do not know the breakdown of the stock exhaust as far as what parts of it are what? I know a CAI is a must and am wondering if the short tube systems are ok as I do not want to pull the bumper off. I would like to keep the filters in the same location as stock. Thanks in advance for all the help. On a side note I apologize if I sound retarded but I came from a C63 amg benz and I am not familiar with the lingo here yet.

To be honest, I dont think a CAI is a must at all. The stock air intakes are amazing. From the charts and data iv seen, you will gain a little power at high RPM but lose some power at mid to low RPM. Also if your trying to augment the bonuses from a exhaust with a CAI, it wont happen. An exhaust will give you around 20HP, and an exhaust + CAI will give you 22HP.

As far as HP goes, there isnt to much out there for under 2k. Between an exhaust and CAI you would be lucky to add 25 hp. Personally im waiting and saving up for the new Stillen SC.

For 2k, I'd go for a full cat back exhaust. CAI is not a must.

True...

or

you can just save up 3g's more and get a supercharger for the car and go from there... since there are giving base maps with stock exhausts...

Made my decision. Im going to put the ARK Grip catback on. It has the look and sound I am looking for and the quality from what I can see is very good. The dyno numbers on a stock G37 with this exhaust are impressive to.

If I were you I would throw maybe a GTM 3" exhaust on the car. Since you have the need to mod the car, it will only be a matter of time before you decide to go F/I. just my opinion, I had spent money on borla exhaust, stillen headers and intake only to be taken out when i went for F/I
