gas gauge

Does your gas gauge register the correct level when you turn your car on to the accessory position or does it wait until the car is actually started?

Anybody??? It's a simple question, I need to know because my car wont start and it might have been from an unsuccessful Cobb AP uninstall. I sold the Cobb and my engine was apart when I did the uninstall so I couldnt start it up afterwards to verify everything was working fine. I noticed the gas gauge reading zero when I know I have a half tank.

Doesn't work in the acc position. But works when it's in on, but car is not started. Not sure how to do that with an automatic. With my mt if I press the button twice without the clutch it turns on and the gauges work without actually starting engine
