I just went to the dragstrip tonight - I got consistently better times in D - better than DS, and better than D shift yo self. 0-60 in D was 5.31, DS was 5.54, 1/8 mile was much better too - 9.01 for D vs. DS @ 9.18 - in fact, my new ECM was doing weird stuff on the top-end, it would give a weird shriek at around 7k to 7.5k and it felt as if the car really got soft. I don't know if the two are related, but it was unnerving, and it felt like it had run out of gumption, and really soften up between those points. I'll have to look at my dynolicious charts to see if that really happened.

Never did that before, with the old ECM, although my 0-60 times are greatly improved. Although I must say that in DS with Traction off, I got a nice chirp during the 1-2 shift. That had never happened before. But throttle response was slower in DS off the line, and then I didn't hook up well. My 60' times were the pits, like 2.55 and stuff.

^ That's very surprising. I wouldn't expect D to be faster than DS and even manual mode, but you have the numbers to prove it.

DS feels a little flat to me, D puts me back in my seat a little more.

I need to compare more to be fair, but I'm beginning to think DS is for the twisties, and for keeping you in the tq sweet spot, not for drag racing, although you'd think with this car's HP/TQ curve it'd always be best to go to redline before shifting....(which D doesn't do, but DS does)

unless you don't got none! I saw your thread, and the crappy run you had in DS - I'm just about convinced DS is backroads corning only. I'll go out to my strip tonight, and practice my stick shifting - My problem is I came from a long line of sticks, so If I'm grabbing a stick, then my left foot starts hopping around looking for a clutch, and things get confusing. Same prob in my G8, but torque saves the bad driver - Need to relearn!

That's what I said, apart from the perfect shifting it's a waste.
