Clutch pedal

Hey I was driving my 08 G37 w/60,140 miles on it today and suddenly my clutch pedal just went to the floor. I could still drive the vehicle but barley could I even put it in gear. I drove to my local Infiniti dealer and they said that theyd call me in the morning and tell me whats wrong. Any input??

Sounds like a clutch hydraulic system issue but do a search this isnt the first time that I've heard the same story.

Yep, slave cylinder. Had this happen on a 84 200SX. Once I got it in gear, there was no shifting again unless I pulled the pedal up by hand. Drove to the mechanic in 3rd gear the whole way.

The dealer just called me and said that they have to pull the tranny to inspect the slave cylinder and clutch. If its just the slave the they said about $700 to replace but I guess if they have the tranny out I should just get a new clutch.... Any suggestions??

$700? Damn, you can't get this covered under warranty huh? You're barely over the mark.

Yikes. That sucks. I've had the clutch slave cylinder go on two different cars. Never fun.

I just left the dealer and they informed me that its the slave cylinder. They did also recommend that I replace the clutch as well but he said its only 30% worn and will last a good amount of time still. I asked about putting in an aftermarket clutch but he said that they wont install it. So I'm just going to get the slave cylinder fixed for $700 and worry about the clutch later.

Are you f'ing kidding me. DO NOT ACCEPT THIS. CALL Nissan and inform them you bought a car that had a problem that caused this and threaten to call a lawyer, actually you can probably find one to talk to for free.

That's a part with a known problem and well within the factory warranty of the car. The problem didn't just happen it's been happening and has been shown to be an issue. DO NOT SETTLE FOR THEM CHARGING YOU...PERIOD.

Uh, there's no point to replacing a clutch that's still got 70% of it's life left...
