Maybe because their accelerator pedal is stuck?? haha.

I hear you on the lack of torque thing. Kind of embarrassing!

And I agree with MW09G37, a 6AT would have been perfect.

Add me to the list of annoyed 7AT owners. The bogging is really annoying. The upshift flare is also something that isn't acceptable.

I have that. The quick solution is to use your paddle shift for a quick downshift. providing your car has them. And after a few seconds or more depending on how hard you stepping on the gas the transmission will settle into "D" again.

Add me to that list as well ...

2009 G37x AWD sedan , 3000 M

I went to dealer today and verified that my TCM is not on the TSB list., so made an appointment on Wed. for further investigation. I am not convinced it is normal.

I noticed this too, specially after a long drive the trans stay at 7th gear at 1000rpm. If you have paddle shifter then use it, otherwise just step on the gas and it will down shift.

Let us know what the dealer says if you could.

Personally I'd rather have the extra performance rather than save a few miles per gallon.

Isn't Black Betty's grounding kit supposed to help with the timing of AT shifts? Supposed to make shifting faster?

auto is meant to be boggish. if you want sporty, go ds. if you want more fun, go manual.

Yeah, supposed to help, but I don't think it's a night/day kind of thing. Some have said they felt a difference, others nothing at all.

Yeah, it's kind of embarrasing to get beat by a Dodge truck because you're at 15 mph in 2nd gear and the car doesn't downshift. There are several points like that where the car's acceleration is pretty weak because it won't downshift. I guess I need to get good at using the paddles.

I almost never manually downshifted my old TL, but it wasn't necessary as the 5 speed AT shift patterns were very well refined. It always downshifted when it needed to.

I'm starting to use the paddle shifter more now since I've added an exhaust without the silencers, and I hear the drone in 7th gear while at 40MPH or below and the downshift had not occurred yet to say 4th or so. Just figured out where the drone was coming from today since it's the 7AT and the exhaust note is more pronounced.

OK, I went to the dealer on Wed. A technician did a testing drive, he told me it is normal and give me a lot details about why which I hardly rememeber. In summary, it is a Infiniti new technology. The transmission is up 2 shifts intead of one , so user can feel the harsh shift. I guess Infiniti pursue so-called high tech and leave a basic thing out which is a smoth comforable driving.

I am thinking to escalate to 3rd party to evaluate if it is a design issue

Same issue on my 5AT. D upshifts too soon. DS is too unpredictable because it depends on how you drive it (don't need to be shifting at redline on the hwy in traffic).

M seems best for me when I manually shift between 3K and 4K.

What do you mean by "upshift flare"? I too agree with the bogging and will try the DS mode but was unsure what is meant by upshift flare.
