Engine whining sound. Found Culprit! **VIDEO**

So last week my my engine started to make a whiny high pitched/high frequency sound when revving on accelerating. Today I had a chance to get under the car to take a closer look before taking it to the dealer for warranty repair. I listened closely with a stethoscope and found the culprit! It's the serpentine tensioner bearing. See how it's wobbly? Yup, this is it! Let's see what the dealer says when I take it in tomorrow

We will wait and see. The UR Crank Pulley is factory size and is no way a contributing factor on a Tensioner bearing to wear out. Should be covered.

Good luck with the dealer. They will say just about anything not to fix it. How many miles do you have on it?

I just got a call from my service guy. He stated that it is the power steering pump that was making the noise, looks like it may have gone bad. Regardless, it will be covered under warranty.

I wonder then.. Is the tensioner bearing supposed to have play like noted in the video?

Yes, this high pitched whine is not related and completely different.

your tensioner may be wobbling from whatever is being relayed to it by the bad power steering pump.
