It is still crude oil based.

Full Synthetic like Royal Purple, Amsoil are fully developed in lab. PAO or Ester based.

I don't know how it's working out for you, but ester based oil isn't ideal for daily driver.

Are you serious or are you just kidding?

If you are serious I laugh at you because ester oil is a ideal daily driver. Ester oil is the oil that help's prevent the engine from knocking. PLEASE do your research.

So it does makes sense. Nissan's Ester oil is not real Ester oil.
Otherwise, IMO it would be too aggressive for daily drivers.

Just a quick fix to solve the knocking problem that Nissan engines had/have.
Should have the fixed the engine, instead of just covering it with the new oil.

The Nissan Ester oil is NOT ester based synthetic, but is 5W-30 conventional with an ester additive
We found out it is a 5W-30 conventional oil with an ester additive. The ester additive is not available separately, as, most likely, Nissan buys the private label oil with the ester already added to the oil. The ester additive is supposed to help quiet engine ticking or VVEL knocking. The one person reporting who tried it said it worked at first. Then, after six days his ticking returned. The retail price is $12/quart.

So, whether the ester additive does anything beneficial, we do not know. Like you, I have no ticking or knocking (the TSB has cured my knock for about two months now). If everything is fine without the Nissan Ester oil, then it makes sense to keep using what I have been using. Unless, of course, we learn later on that this Nissan Ester oil works like magic in our cars.

Hey, DashKid, are you interested in a Dash Kit? lol
Joke aside, I work for a dash trim company.
We sell tons of G37 kits.

If anybody is interested, I might be able to hook you up.

Some pieces I am not feeling good about, such as on the steering wheel and vents. But you don't have to put them on. Picture shown with real Rosewood. I am gonna get some Carbon Fiber one when I pick up the car.

If I was gonna spam, I would have made a new thread about it, not throwing in the middle of an oil change thread.

Sorry if you feel that way.
I am not even in the sales department. I do graphics/design and some R&D.

Back to the topic,
I would not pay premium for the Nissan Ester. It's not even a synthetic oil, sounds like a cash grab.

Nissan "ester oil" is the proven fix for the VVEL tick.

Ester based (Group V) oil is perfectly suitable for daily driving, if the particular oil has detergents, which they all do unless you're getting a custom blend for racing.

Of course if you don't have the VVEL tick you are really just wasting your money on Ester oil IMO...

For the price, I'd pay a little more and get a superior oil anyways

I just picked up some of the new Pennzoil Ultra, which contains ester, at walmart earlier. Gonna be changing it out later tonight or tomorrow. Pretty fair price too, $28 for a 5qt jug plus another $6.97 for a single quart.
