"sounds and feels sportier". Well the 7 speed has better mileage and smother shifts, but does this cut down on the sporty high revving sound? Is it just a myth that the "5 speed sounds sportier" than the 7 or is there some truth to it?

I would think the 5 speed switches gears less but switches at higher revs maybe? I even saw some forum goers saying the 5 speed is faster than the 7 speed (by .1) or even vice versa, lol.

So is there any truth to any of this or just bunk?

 

LOL...... seriously...

7 speed would most likely be faster....they are going to sound the SAME the gearboxes are just different.... all you have to do is press the gas anyways and you can change the sound to however you want..
You can get an exhaust or muffler to make it sound more "sportier"

Actually, I like the 5 sp a little more than the 7 sp. It feels faster b/c of the rev and the 7 sp is kind of too smooth for my taste...more like Lexus now.
