Tranny problem

Has anyone else had this problem? While driving around town and most of the time I manually shift my 08 automatic. I very rarely use "D". While driving it jumps from manual shift to "D" all by itself. Now if I move the shift lever from left to right and back it will not come out of ". It won't even go into "DS". I have to stop and shut off the engine to return to manual shift. Of course the dealer couldn't duplicate it but its happened to me every day this last week.

PD

Shifter itself is bad, 2 trans parts marked misc. & replaced shifter per repair order(btw i had to get to act up, as they just put can not duplicate.) its usually when the trans gets to full temp. i have no idea how so many of these cars have bad shifters.G/L with the dealer. if you cant get them to duplicate the problem ill dust off the repair order & get you the exact part#s

go total the car and blame it on the shifter being stuck.

Risky are you saying it really has to do with the tranny over heating? weird.. in summer were temps jump to 120 my tranny never complained on the dam autocross. Now under normal driving and shifting at 3-4k in temps around 60-70.. Tranny's overheating

Something doesn't add up.. I'm taking her in tmrw as I can't stand driving like a granny no more lol (GOD I WISH I HAD AN MT)

Update:

Just came back from the dealer, they literally spent the whole trying to figure out what it was, they checked all wiring and harness from the ECU all the way to the shift ****. They found out it was a faulty sensor that read the gear lever being on D or DS/M. They ordered it, I took my car back while it arrives.

Hope that helps

Like G37Sam says it's a micro switch that tells the tranny what mode it’s in. Infiniti of Kirkland has done this before so no dispute to get it taken care of. I've got a nice big FX35 loaner (for New Years Eve no less, but now I have no excuse not to be the people hauler, can you say reluctant designated driver?) So my G's in the shop, and tech says 3 hours or less to replace. I asked if I'll be back here for the same problem next year. Tech says he knows of no plans to rework or modify the existing sensor switch so who knows.

just got my car back from the dealer. They replaced the whole shifter assembly and another part. I guess there is a history of these problems. But glad it was fixed.

Same thing's happening to me too! Annoying as hell. I did the assembly swap but it happened a couple times after that.
