Harsh noise from the engine during cold start Help Help Help
Hi All:
My G37 makes a horrible!! noise from the front of the engine when do a cold start(under -25 degrees) and the noise disappears after the engine runs about 10 secs. The noise sounds like noise of a running vaccum cleaner but harsher. The car only has about 4000 kms and i had just brought in my car for the first oil change with the 5-30w standard engine oil(i think its too soon to put the sythetic oil in.. i could be wrong). it could caused by tight conponents in the engine or the timming chain is lack of lubrication. Does anyone has this similar problem or how it may get fixed?
Thanks

If you haven't had the TSB done, I recommend getting it done...it should include
a oil change with the Nissan Ester. If that dosen't help, you could try another
oil depending on your climate and driving habits. If you live in a "cooler" winter
climate you could always try some top-tier 0W30 to see it that does that trick.
Otherwise I can only recommend you get "in Infiniti's face" until they fix the
problem to your satisfaction. My first step would be getting the dealer to
document and/or agree that what is happeining is abnormal.
Damage may already be done based on your description.....especially
if you revved your engine over 3K when the engine was not
under load. Hope this helps and good luck.

Good new is it doesnt make any noise when i do a cold start with above -20 degrees. I will record the noise if it happens again and take it to the dealer and see what they say about it, also i will post in the forum.
Many thanks
Many thanks
Mine has made that sound since day one. It lasts a little longer in the colder months. I currently have 0-30 synthetic in it now with no difference. 17K miles on the odo now. The sound goes away in about a minute. I don't worry about it - just drive.
