7AT Grounding...G35 Owners Need Not Reply
7AT Grounding...G35 Owners Need Not Reply
Would like to hear from 37 owners that have grounding kits and how
grounding has affected the 7 speed automatic.
There are many bits and pieces throughout various threads here
but it's hard to piece togeather because of noise from advocates,
non-advocates and salesmen.
SO....if you've put a grounding kit on your G with a 7 speed auto
how has it affected your car?

It seems to help the most when everything's turned on at once (AC, lights, wipers, aftermarket audio, etc). It helps to distribute currents more evenly and rapidly. But then again, like TripleX said, may be all in my head...
It feels better for some reason.. it could also just be in my head but I have a 6MT and the throttle response definitely improved.
seems drives a lot better after the install. My car was a little wimpy compared to the loaner I drove last week. (5AT VQ35HR 08) throttle response seems to be a little more aggressive like I hit 100 without having to press the pedal to floor. (which means I did it purely by accident)
but take it with a grain of salt. w/o the battery disconnected, the ECU should have reset along with a couple of other things. cause my throttle response when i drop the accelerator sucks still. so it ain't magic.. I did notice that the VQ35HR has more grouding than the VQ37 during the install though
my favorite part tho is that my car doesn't have light flickers at start any more (hit the start button, the cabin lights light dim for OEM bulbs, flickers from LED users) lights stay solid during start up. just redo your windows and keep an eye on your auto-off headlights. doesn't hurt to have them, but it's not going to be night an day in your driving.

I noticed the lights don't dim or flicker as mentioned above. I have an 09 7AT S sedan and I can say I noticed increased throttle response and DS shifts seem more responsive or aggressive. However DS manual shifting still lags about a half-second from the paddle shift. Maybe it's just me but I feel shifting with the manumatic (stick) seems to yield better-timed shifts. Perhaps it's due to my experience with manual trans...

i've driven Saltfish's '09 G37 sedan 7at w/ the black betty grounding kit and it does seem to shift a little quicker but it does seem smoother.
it can void a warranty if found the cause, which is a very rare rare case

i did a kit from stillen, you can see it on their website
i noticed nothing so far.
i do have the 7AT
installation is simple, takes 10-15 minutes, a 10mm wrench, 10mm socket and i think a 13mm sockets, very simple
warranty, will not void it, but if you bring car to dealer, they can give you a hard time. best thing to do if you bring car to dealer for a problem is to remove it from the battery at least, this way they can not complain
