car shut off while in motion

car shut off while in motion
my 08 g37s shut off while i was slowing down but still going about 25-30 mph. I would start it up again but had to red line it to keep the engine on so i could pull over to the side. While on, the "service engine soon" light came on and it started revving by itself. pretty horrifying experience b/c i was downtown san diego w/ a lot traffic. Had to get my car towed to the dealership, they still don't know what is wrong w/ it. So now I am stuck w/ a loaner g35 for at least the weekend.
Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know what the problem is?

No but yesterday morning my 3 week new G37xS 7AT in Drive decided after sitting at a stoplight that it no longer liked any gear but 1ST. Attempts to change gears with the paddles were unrecognized as the dash info screen still said D. Attempting to change via DS still showed D. So Redlining it at 20mph, limped it into a parking lot and shut it down. 30 sec's and a restart and everything was back to normal.
Dealer can't see it till monday morning. No TSB trans update on this car as dealer said last week it didn't apply as it already has new TCM software...despite it almost throwing me through the windshield with an unexpected 4 to 3 (2?) downshift while stopping. (only happend once and haven't been able to recreate).
That said, guess I'd rather have a trans go slow problem over an unexpected cessation or even a potentially uncontrolled go fast one like hquach....

Dealer just called and my CEL showed "engine misfire"...so they they think it refused to shift because it was trying to protect the engine....(BY KEEPING THE REVS REDLINED??????!!!?????) Anyway, no action taken...with a wait and see approach.

Engine code probably showed misfire because it was redlining unloaded...
In my experience, dealers are pretty clueless to problems like these. They'll do an ECU reflash and shoot in the dark a little with strange reasonings. At times they don't even know if a TSB exists on a particular issue
You'll need to stay on top of them.
hope it gets resolved quickly without much trouble.

Dealer agreed initial response was illogical. Sending technical support request to Japan, think they will hear back by next week.
Shabbo- CEL illuminated while sitting at red light at idle, shift issue and redline happend immediately after. No noticable 'misfire' while idling.
Didn't mean to threadjack...what is up with hquach's shut off in motion/whacky throttle issue????
