Rev sound change after 3k RPM

Hey all,

My G is at 3000miles now and even after taking it to the dealer for the exhaust replacement /engine tick (flash ecu, ester oil) I still occasionally hear a change in noise in the revving sorta like a slight faster ticking when reving to 3k RPM. I believe it only happens during the beginning before the engine is warm although I think I've heard it even after driving awhile too. Sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't, when I do hear it it's usually very brief maybe 3 seconds and when I check the RPM needle it's around 3k and then the sound goes away and never comes back.... what gives +_+ Could it be a rattle in the dash that happens at the 3k rev frequency? I do know if I go WOT and hit 7k rpm my dash rattles but that rattle sound is very obvious..

Is it just the intakes expanding or the engine making normal noise? Btw I do not have any aftermarket intakes. The guy who replaced my parking/city lights did it from the top and had to remove the air intake box .. do you think that they have something loose or put it back wrong that could cause this intermittent ticking in the rev at 3k rpm?

Save and print this TSB and take it to your dealer>

The ticking or tapping noise you are hearing should be fixed with the above TSB.

Will there be any issues leaving this for my 2nd oil change? I just finished my first one.

for me it started as a faint noise then it got louder over time. the loudness is different from car to car i would assume.

I had the same problem in the first 1K miles...it went away as soon as I switched to 300V oil. This is way before the TSB came out. The VVEL does open up big time after 3K rpm so it's probably related. I'm at 16K miles now without any strange noises.
