Tim,

my receipt said the same thing - something about TCM - Service rep confirmed the TSB was applied. I would say 90% improvement. I can definitely live with it. Mileage is unchanged.

I am going to have to call my dealer back just to verify what was actually done. My receipt seems to indicate it was done, but I have no appreciable improvement

What I find very troubling is the wide range of outcomes documented in here even after the TSB has been applied.

Funny I had mine done at same dealer as you but the description on my invoice was much more detailed (i.e. reprogrammed TCM from xxxx-xxx to xxxx-xxx). Guess it just depends on the service writer or tech.

I have not seen too many varying responses in terms of outcomes. I think most people agree it smoothes out the rough spots but doesn't entirely overcome the engine braking issue.

I have a perceived issue with throttle lag and mpg that I have noticed since the flash but doubt they are related to the flash as others either have had no similar issue after the flash OR had the issue before the flash.

So I finally got the update last Friday in Houston, TX. It says "ECU reprogrammed per ITB..." on the receipt. I came in and said I had rough downshift at about 20mph. I didn't say anything about the TSB (tried that last time, didn't work).

Result:
* Much better downshift. It feels like an Infiniti now. Although it's not Lexus smooth (which I don't like), it's smoother than before. It still happens sometimes (maybe 1 out of 10) but nothing like before. I notice it happens more often when I leave the gear in M and it auto downshifts as I come to a stop, but that's expected because I want the sporty feeling

* Gas mileage on my first tank is about the same (a little less) but I guess they had to reset the ECU so it has to re-learn my driving habit. My average is about 24MPG.

* No lag that I can notice.

* Flare issue: I had it for the 1st time when I drove off the dealership. It was about 50mph at 3K RPM, then I went to 3.5K, then it up-shifted. I haven't had it since then. So it's not bothering me too much.

Overall, I am happy.

I had the tsb applied to my coupe. The engine braking is improved. However, this is still the worst automatic transmission I have driven. It's like being in the passenger seat of a car with manual transmission. You can feel every shift up, and every shift down. It's not a sport issue. Be as harsh as you want when the throttle is on the floor, but at moderate throttle I shouldn't be jerking back and forth by the stupid transmission. My 5 year old nissan truck has a smoother transmission.

I agree. I drove an A4 before my new 09 G37xS and the G feels like I'm driving a manual. It really does not shift like a luxury sedan. It's a sports car with an incredibly sporty trans. Considering that the transmission is controlled by a computer, I wish there was a setting to make it shift like a luxury car without any jerkiness.

id say the tsb helped about 70-80% as i barely notice the harsh downshifting anymore. of course i drive my coupe in manual 95% of the time so i cant really compare to all the people complaining about how rough D is. i guess i treat my car more to the sport side than the luxury side.

I am scheduling to have oil change and asking for the TSB today........btw, getting constant 25mpg in mixed driving - pleasant surprise!

Has anyone experienced rough brake feel....not the downshift or auto braking, but a rough feel in the pedal. Not a warped rotor issue either. Think of if you are riding on blacktop vs concrete.....the ride is the same but you feel the coarseness in the pedal.

Yes, I do have it

We are just too sensitive about this kind of stuff, aren't we?

I sure think so. Between loving to drive my G and paying attention to what is going on around me, I seldom ever notice what the transmission is doing. Unless it does something really out of the ordinary, which is hasn't.

Rhino,
I am experiencing the same throttle lag issues you are since the update. They were definitely not present before. When cruising along at any speed whether in DS mode or D mode, there is a delay after flooring the throttle before it downshifts and takes off. The only way that it still has the "juice" is in DS mode at a dead stop. I wonder if there is any way to reverse the TSB? I'd almost rather have the engine braking than this

I actually just notice what you describe above today but I rather not have the engine braking though.

My fix: Switch to DS, then manually downshift once (or twice) and take off. It's fun

If I wanted to shift all the time I would have gotten a manual tranny

I will mention the issue the next time I go in for service in another month or two and see if the tech feels the issue. Like Obsidian...the more I drive the car the more I get the feeling it's been neutered in terms of the takeoff. Of course I am looking for something to be wrong with the car at this point (I still love it though).

Hi everyone I just got my G37 last week and I think I'm having this issue with it. Is this something that needs to be taken cared of asap or can it wait till I actually need to go to the dealer, early next week because they have to replace my driver side window since it has a 5in scratch on the inside? Also what exactly should I tell the Infiniti service dept. so I don't look like a idiot?
