Blown Engine and Trans

Ok, I have a 5AT. I have tracked my car and driven the heck out of it...Three months ago metal shavings were found in my oil due to poor oil pressure. I needed a brand new engine... the whole long block. Two weeks ago, my car wouldn't accelarate past 30mph.....trans had metal shavings in it and I needed a completely new one. Under warranty I have gotten a brand new engine and a brand new trans...not complaining but has anybody else had this happen??? I had 35k miles on my car when these things happened.

Did you break it in per manual or are you one of those that subsribe to "drive it like you stole it" approach to break-in?

Wow, must say you got lucky on this one. I'm sure if they knew it had been tracked several times you'd be SOL. Hope they dont find and read this thread.

Are you willing to give us accurate details of exactly what it is you did to ruin a motor and tranny in 35K?

Well I can kind of add some info for ya. He participates in A LOT of track events out here in So Cal. I know he's gone a few times to the Auto Club Speedway events and to Buttonwillow. And he's done a crap load of canyon runs.

i had someone bring in a motor w/ 18k miles on it and the engine was knocking.... that is why you don't go to a cheap place for oil changes... who knows what they put into the oil.

I was chill when I broke my engine in. brand new..I have HFC's, exhaust, intakes, and grouding wires. I couldnt get an answer from the dealership as to why the oil pressure went down so low that it caused engine damage and grindage. I use the paddle shifters sometimes and sometimes stay DS. I track and drive the car hard but I think a lot of us do so I,m not sure whats up...I am happy to have a new engine and tranny though.

Because they shift faster and the paddles are more fun!
