6MT came out of gear while driving.

So it happened.

I've seen it mentioned before and always thought it would never happen. It happened TWICE actually.

Once while on the highway, I was in 5th gear and it popped out. And again, this morning while in second, it just came out of gear.

Anyone else? Should I take it to the dealer or wait it out?

Straight to the dealership. It won't fix itself or get any better, only worse. Any transmission problems leading up to this?

My friend had the same problem with his STI. He went back to the dealership a few times but they weren't able to reproduce the problem even though it happened to him on regular basis. Later he noticed that it only happens when he's low on gas for some reason.

They replaced everything associated with his 2nd gear (he was popping out of second). Good luck, keep updated.

^ Wow that is funny, I didn't fill up this morning because I was running late. That might be the problem.

Yea, I have no idea why, either does he.

He was looking for a new tranny but apparently Subaru regional rep is really tough on approving warranty work, so he just got new 2nd gear, synchros, sleeve?.....etc

One thing I recently noticed is that when I go into forth, the throw is shorter then any other gear. Half the time it feels like I didn't get it in there all the way, but it is and doesn't pop out. Is there a similar issue with yours where the shift into the gears doesn't feel as deep as others?

Exactly, wtf is that anyway? I'm worried I bent a fork or something in there. It throws me off when i haven't driven in a while. i only get to drive her once every week or two.
