"Engine Service Soon"

Hey guys, hope some one could help me out here:

I was checking my air filter was and forgot to plug back the air flow sensor, so the Engine Service light lit up. I immediatley knew what it was for and plugged it back in, but now the light wont' go away.

Does any one know how to reset that light?

Thanks, Steve

thanks, easy enough. You would think that there's a more technical way of doing it, like the Toyota's.

kinda funny that one thing leads to another. While waiting those few minutes while the battery was disconnected, I noticed that there were few blemishes on the car. So I broke out the wax and just did that spot. The next thing I knew the entire car and the wheels had a wax job.

see page 2-17 of the owner's manual for some other MIL, Malfunction Indicator Lamp, (service engine soon) information. says if nothing wrong, it will reset itself after a few drives. Service Manual says, page EC-549, for a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) "Mass air flow sensor circuit: Engine speed will not rise more than 2,400 rpm due to the fuel cut." That would be a bummer. Lots of DTC's that limit rpm to 2400 or 3500...or even 1000 for a DTC on a Electric Throttle control actuator; or for others, the throttle is limited to a 5 degree opening, or a slower opening throttle "So, the acceleration will be poor".

page EC-20 shows a procedure that I think resets the MIL (SES) as part of an Idle air learning procedure:
"3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.
- Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
- Fully release the accelerator pedal.
7. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops
blinking and turned [turns] ON.
8. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL turned ON.
9. Start engine and let it idle.
10. Wait 20 seconds."

see other posts on this using the Search to confirm this MIL reset procedure

I had to ask for a more technical way of reseting. LOL! I think, I'll just stick with pulling the plug
