theres lots of ways to get big power. if you want to go this route, then props to you for being original. personally, id stick to building the vq37 with twin turbos since id rather have someone familiar with my car like sharif work on it then starting from scratch.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys. Clearly I'm not committed to anything yet, and I may end up waiting a while to do anything. But I'm currently discussing the TT option with Sharif at Forged, I've got an e-mail in to AAM about the swap, or possibly the TT, and I've also got an e-mail in to Henson Performance about the swap. So I'll let you know what everyone says. And that Skyline is insaneeee. I would love to do something like that. It definitely seems like that would take a ton of time, a lot of money, and all of my trunk space haha. But I guess all of these options will probably take time, money, and space. So anyways, right now I'm just exploring options. Thanks for the ideas so far and feel free to keep throwing ideas at me.

What I don't get to be honest is, if you wanted big power from the beginning why did you land on a G37? you should've went for a Corvette from the beginning..

but you didn't..

so you got the G, an engine swap to a bigger engine not only means that it might not fit easily, but you're also messing up the car's weight distribution meaning your car will start riding funny.. getting a "custom" suspension might help reduce it but not perfect it..

Not always is being unique and original a good thing.. I can throw away my stock wheels and install 16" instead.. I can easily claim then that I'm the only one in earth (hell not even aliens would do it lol) with 16's on a G37, unique? yes.. Original? Hell yes.. Retarted? with talent! lol

Your best bet would be to go TT hands down, and that was my 2 fils..

Definitely keep us posted though

Haha I'm perfectly happy with my G37 and its stock power/performance. And there are plenty of other reasons I went with the G37. I love the way it looks, I love the interior, I love that it seats 4, and it's an incredible bang for my buck. So I wouldn't mind keeping it completely bone stock like it is now, (well I added 35% tint but you can't even tell haha). But for quite awhile I was the only G37 in my area, now they're everywhere, which was fine, until last week when I was home for spring break and saw somebody with the exact same car. Same color, options, etc. Which means now instead of getting all the stares around town, I'll only be getting half....

In the end, I very may well end up going with just bolt ons and some wheels, I just figured I'd throw this idea around and see what everyone thinks, not to mention I would love to be able to pull up next to ricers who always try to rev next to me, and just start revving up a big throaty V8 roar and mess with their heads a little bit.

I wouldn't be surprised if the LS7 could fit under the hood, given that the G37 already has generous spacing in there and also the fact that you're going from a 3.7 Liter DOHC setup to a V8 pushrod. People shouldn't be so quick to judge the size difference between the two solely on displacement as the LS7 should definitely be packaged more efficiently the the VQ.

I know for a fact that the LS will fit. Hinson has done Z with no problem. They even fit a LS3 into a Pontiac solstice. I love the uniqueness of it and nothing will ever compare to the sound. You can put in some electronic dump valves and just hear the monster roar. You can make the crappy SRT4 neon next to you sh*t his pants.

Plus the VQ37 motor is 380 lbs, the LS3 is 490 lbs. Move the battery to the rear and you only have a 80 lbs difference. Wont make much difference. Plus the font of the G37 sits 1 inch higher than the rear stock, might make it about even.

Even when Hinson did the LS3 swap into a 350Z. They didnt have to change the suspension at all.
