Dark engine oil after a few months, Normal?

My G has only about 8900 miles, I changed the oil back in November, Yesterday i checked it and its already dark, is this normal for it to be happening so quickly? Any way to stop this "burning" or is it something to always expect?

About 900 miles since my last change (November 15, 2008)

And i've only used Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-30

FYI: I dont drive like a idiot like some people may do, launching there car at a green light or driving hard when the car is barely warmed up I only tend to open up the engine once in a blue (yeah maybe a hard few take offs or few blinks from the slip light) but not beat the **** out of the engine literally. Is this possible from a bad break in process? I'm the 2nd owner of this car through out its lifetime, The previous owners did a pretty ****ty job with maintaining and caring for the car. The engine is great clean and smooth inside and out from day one but the oil was dark as **** when i first changed it (Guess they didn't change it before),The exterior was crap before i had my detailer clean it up for me, And that's about it.

But the oil getting into that color after about a mere 4 months is very odd.

That oil looks 100% normal to me. Looks like used motor oil. The only way you can tell if anything is wrong is to send it off for laboratory analysis.

It's look dark after only 900 miles, Keep in mind it has only been 4 months since my last change and its already calling for another change? Not right, Tomorrow I'm going to try to get some daytime pics from under the hood.

What's "calling" for another oil change? Is the car telling you?

Yes its telling me it needs an oil change.

No, The color of the oil represents (well to me), that it may need a oil change, Usually when it gets very dark then normal then its an indication that it needs an oil change soon, But why so early? Why only after 900 miles or 4 months since its last oil change. I don't leave it in there till it turns midnight black then give it a change, Could this also assume that the oil is burning from its color?

Its gonna get dark right after you start the car no matter what.

Get used to it, if you want clear oil then start changing it after every drive.

That's understandable that its going to change color yes but why so early, Teach me something cause i never experience car oil getting so dark so quickly especially after 4 months.

If the car is telling you it needs an oil change then your maintenance intervals are set incorrectly. Check your manual on how to set them.

The car itself does not "know" if it needs an oil change.

I agree with the other folks. Color doesn't mean a thing.

Change it next week. Drive it for a few weeks. Then change it again because it will be dark again. Your oil in not that dark. I can clearly see that by the drops on your light colored upholstery. It can be black as night and still that's not an indication of a problem is what people are telling you. Does it smell burnt? Is there water or antifreeze in it? Those are problems. Dark color is not.

reasons for color change include:

mixing of old oil left over
oil carbons breaking down due to heat
air/moisture leaking into your engine

did you change the oil filter as well? thats what collects the dark sludge created by normal operation.

No water or antifreeze, I did give it a whiff it had that light gasoline smell.

woady: I change oil and filter everytime.

I'm also wondering if it was caused by the poor ownership of the previous owner, When i first did the oil change (6500 miles), the oil looked like the color of my car (BO).

A bad break in process doesn't have nothing to do with this correct?

NO. A bad break in won't make your oil dark. Oil is dark from the deposits in it from normal combustion in your engine. That's why dark color doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong or that it's been run too long.
