Shifter Problem...Help!

I removed the shift ****, shifter console, and cupholder panel. Everything went smooth as far as I thought but now upon reassembly, when I turn the car off the shift into park alarm sounds and does not turn off. I've disconnected the battery overnight, resetting the ECU, but to no avail. Everything shifts fine and the car works, but that alarm still activates once you shut down to exit.

One clue, I can't remember if when in park the **** on the shift lever can be depressed or if it's firm. Right now, it's firm on park but pressable everywhere else.

Note: The entire shifter was replaced under warranty due to a bad assembly. According to my dealer, mine was not the first and they stock the complete part. Who knew!
