Hi guys,
This is not a discussion of AUTO or MANUAL..I am just comparing the gear ratio of....and might thinking on the 0-60 improvements...

I think that the 09 seems to have worst acceleration 0-60 due to it new gear ratios...take a look:

Obs: can anyone check that ratios with the owners manual to see if they are correct for the 5auto?

Comments:
The 08 5AT gear ratios seems to be more short, so less 0-60...than the 2009 7A.
The 5Auto is pretty close to 6MT, and the only gains might be only on mpg, not for 0-60 like infiniti claims too...
<O</O
Take a look on the final drive ratio, the 7A is lower than 6MT and 5A, so might have less acceleration....but due to lower 7th gear ratio than 6MT, they will get the advantage from better mpg.
Waiting your coments guys...i hope i was wrong, but i will need the help from the experts... <O</O

It isn't just about the final drive ratio...you have to look at it for each gear.

If you compare gear by gear, if you multiply the numbers to see the more accurate gearing ratio, you'll see that the newer one is geared more aggressively.

If each individual gear has the same gear ratio and the only difference is final drive ratio, then yes, the car with the higher final drive ratio will have faster acceleration

Gears 1-3 on the 7at look like they will definitely get the G to 60 and 100 quicker than even the 6mt...

this i don't like!!! pray my prediction is wrong!

What are you talking about? What improvements need to be made?

The 7 speed Auto is geared quite aggressively...isn't that good?

How are you seing this "more aggressively" change on which gear change? Please, explain...

Im trying to follow your thoughts...and i might get the same conclusion about the 7AT more agressive than 6mt....

Multiply out the numbers:

1st gear:

on the manual
3.79* 3.69 = 13.9851

on the 7 speed auto
4.92*3.36 = 16.53

If those #'s are correct than the 7AT could provide brisker acceleration through gears 1-3 than the 6MT 1-3. I say "could" because they could change the torque converter, change shift programming, etc in a way that would negate any acceleration advantage. 4th gear is pretty close between the two. However after that the gearing appears to favor mpg. The 7AT should bring the RPM's down on the highway and likely increase MPG.

True that.

Then again, that would be the general intent on making such a transmission. Having 7 gears should most definitely give better acceleration as you have more gear ratios to play around with, leaving less of a "drop" with each shift, in most situations, and still have a low enough top gear so you can cruise at higher highway speeds at low rpms.

Based on gear ratios alone, the 7AT should be faster from a dig and cruise at lower RPMs.. if not for the electronic speed limiter it would have even a higher top speed.

exactly what i am doing, but I know that MT is more quicker(accelaration) than 5AT, but the numbers shows 5AT (14,169) greater than 6MT (13,98).
1st gear.
7AT 16,53
6MT 13,9851
5AT 14,169

Thats why I asked to someone check if the gear ratios for the 5AT are correct, can be wrong. There s something wrong...
At my opinion, ,never the 5AT will get 0-60 better than 6MT..But the numbers shows me the inverse...Is there another explanation for that?
