08 6MT - 1st to 2nd Gear
#31
I also experienced this "clunky" feeling when shifting from 1st to 2nd. And it only happens when the rpm range is around 2k. If i shift at a higher rpm range the clunkiness goes away. I have absolutely no explanation for this, except that my car is indirectly telling me i'm a wimp and asking to drive it harder haha

Shifting is 'notchy' from 1st to 2nd when trans is cold, as it warms its great... Get out of 1st quick, you don't have to stay long... I noticed people love to ride the gears out when the object usually is to get to top gear quickly.

I will probably notify Infiniti during my next inspection. Only 3000 more miles...

Speaking of shifting from 1 to 2... it seems like it takes a long time to shift from 1 to 2 for me. i'll explain: Say im at a stoplight, and the light turns green. I start in 1st, wait till rpm is around 2/2.2 and push in the clutch, shift into 2nd, wait for rpms to drop to about 1.3/1.4 and then ease out the clutch. I usually get a real smooth transition, but it takes too long, and the car is still slow. What am I doing wrong? should I get out of 1st earlier? It kinda sucks, cuz when I start from a stop its takes me too long to get up and go - lots of cars tend to change lanes and pass me...so again, since I am still a newbie to std trans (2500 miles), what should I be doing to get to 3rd gear faster?

well this is a normal thing...i hear that sound on mah g too, when going from 1 to 2....it is normal because...all the nissan MThave that issue.....even my 350z have it.....and like it says in one of the post nissan's xterra has the same problem....and that preety much explains it...i dont know if it is a good thing or bad thing...though?

I usually take it to 3k, when I shift to 2nd I usually give it a lil gas while letting go of the clutch. But if you hold the clutch longer you will be riding your clutch. Powershifting for 25 years j/k

Yea, try to go up to 3k in 1st, let go of the gas and clutch in simultaneously, shift to 2nd. But as soon as you're in 2nd, start clutching out and give it gas, don't wait for the rpm to drop.
Gas as you're clutching out, don't wait
