Odd Tapping On Startup? 6MT

I noticed today when I turned the car on from a cold start it would make this tapping noise from the engine for about 5 seconds then go away. Kind of like a tink-tink-tink repeatedly. It happens everytime I first start the car up and only lasts 5 seconds and then goes away. It is not the clutch / flywheel noise because I'll keep the clutch engaged the whole time and still have the issue, any ideas? Also, A/C is not runnning and it's not left on either.

how many miles on your car? did you change your oil/filter? if changed, did you make sure your oil filter had a check valve?

check valve keeps the oil from draining into the oil pan, keeping the upper part of the engine lubricated at start up.

my best guess without more info.

Just shy of 14,000 miles. Car had an oil change at a certified Infiniti dealership less then 2,000 miles ago. I made an appointment for next Tuesday to get it checked out.

So I checked the dipstick, sure enough over 2 qts low. That's extremely odd, I don't believe the car is burning oil as it would have a noticeable smell and smoke. Anyway, sounds like an iincompetent technition. Time for a new dealership for warranty work.

Thanks for the input guys not enough oil was the issue, now I need to get the VVEL actuator fix the car likes to make noises at idle.

Mine did the same when the car was warm. Just got my 11,250 service done today and I asked them about that because mine would make a tapping noise when idle. They told me thats the way the valves sound on the coupe once the oil is warmed up....?

I do too, but the oil was changed from when I purchased the car preowned. You know, when they detail it and do all the regular maintenance before you drive it off the lot lol. I still should have checked, my own fault, but Christ do I have to even babysit certified mechanics?!
